Dumbanagala Chalet, which consists of several rooms and luxury suite, is situated in Loolwatte, Kobonilla, well inside the buffer zone of Knuckles World Heritage Forest. While the chalets have been built on previously cardamom cultivated land inside the forest, it violates the non-intrusion of forest buffer zones requirement. No history of supporting Bio-Diversity Conservation projects.

Some extent of natural habitat has been lost due to the chalets being created on forested land.

Native trees are present on the property. However, there is opportunity for increasing the native vegetation cover on the property.

Due to being located in an extremely environmentally sensitive area, Dumbanagala Chalet needs to do better Trash Pollution Control, Recycling and Composting to reduce plastic and non bio-degradable items.

While due to the smaller footprint noise and light pollution has been reduced to some extent, there is no visible steps taken by management to ensure noise and light pollution is controlled.

To date, Dumbanagala Chalet has not been active in supporting Bio-Diversity Conservation Projects in the surrounding area. Due to being located within Knuckles World Heritage Forest buffer zone, there is ample opportunity to initiate Bio-Diversity conservation projects to help native species as well as educate the locals to protect the habitat.
